Cloud Storage & Data Security: What You Should Be Asking Your Cloud Service Provider

If you missed us at Cloud Computing Expo last week, never fear. Our very own Chris Schin’s presentation, “Questions You Should Ask a Cloud Service Provider … And Good Answers,” is now available online for viewing. During the presentation and the subsequent Q&A that followed, Chris addressed a number of concerns related to cloud storage adoption and the security issues everyone is asking about.

Some takeaway points to keep in mind:

  • Insist that you own the data and other assets you store in the cloud – not your provider.
  • Make sure your provider is SAS 70 Type 2 certified.
  • Request uptime / downtime history reports prior to signing on with a provider.
