DCIG is initiating research into the software-defined storage (SDS) marketplace, focusing initially on block storage. DCIG invites SDS block storage providers to participate in the survey research taking place through September 2020. DCIG will publish results in the 4th quarter as one or more TOP 5 reports. DCIG’s TOP 5 Reports help IT decision-makers save valuable time through a succinct analysis of SDS solutions.
A growing number of businesses are adopting software-defined storage. This data storage architecture decouples storage software from its hardware. Businesses value SDS for the flexibility SDS gives them to use the hardware of their choosing, and even deploy the same storage solution on-premises and in the public cloud.
SDS Block-Storage Research Status
DCIG performed a scan of the SDS marketplace and discovered nearly two dozen providers of SDS block storage. DCIG designed a survey to capture relevant feature data with input from several solution providers, and invited the SDS block storage vendors to participate in its SDS block-storage research by completing the survey.
SDS Block-Storage: Next Steps
The survey data collection period runs through September 11th. DCIG will finalize the surveys based on publicly available and vendor-provided information. DCIG will analyze and publish results in the 4th quarter as one or more TOP 5 reports. DCIG will announce the release of each TOP 5 report via its newsletter and on the DCIG website. Announcements will include links enabling individuals to download the reports at no cost.
