DCIG Just Keeps Growing and Growing and …

Starting out as a blog site dedicated to primarily covering emerging technologies from vendors who could not get thorough, in-depth analyst coverage elsewhere, DCIG has transformed itself into one of the leading sites on the web where people come for in-depth, informed analysis on products from all providers. Yet in many respects, DCIG is just getting going as 2014 is really a point of demarcation as DCIG anticipates it will further distinguish itself from other analyst firms and technology websites by doing an even better job of arming the IT industry with actionable analysis.
As DCIG enters its 7th year of existence, we thought we would take some time at the start of this year to thank the hundreds of thousands of visitors who now come to DCIG’s site every year. Since its inception, DCIG has established a reputation for providing great content that is easy to understand. That might explain why in 2013 DCIG.com attracted more than 700,000 visitors who viewed nearly 4 million pages of content. Further, by the end of 2013, more than 20,000 people were visiting DCIG’s website on a monthly basis with nearly 2,500 people visiting DCIG’s site every day on average. That’s a far cry from the 100 or so people who visited DCIG’s site daily way back in the early days of DCIG’s existence.

Yet in recent years as DCIG has shifted away from doing just in-depth analysis on a few select products to provide coverage on a wider number of products, its traffic both in terms of number of visitors and page views has grown along with it. The area that has probably contributed the most to this increase in traffic is the introduction of the DCIG Buyer’s Guides in 2010. From 2010 to 2013 our visitor traffic has more than doubled as more individuals and organizations rely upon the informed, insightful analysis provided by these Guides to help them in their technology buying decisions.
DCIG’s emphasis on producing Buyer’s Guides is only going to increase in 2014. As DCIG has grown and refined its process for developing Buyer’s Guides, it anticipates producing in the neighborhood of 20 Buyer’s Guides in 2014 and potentially as many as 30. Driven by user demand and a product that is unlike anything produced by any other analyst firm, DCIG firmly expects its web site numbers are only an inkling of the much larger growth that is still to come as DCIG expands its reach to cover more areas.
In 2014 DCIG already has Buyer’s Guide under development on topics such as Security Incident and Event Management (SEIM) Appliances, Public Cloud NAS Gateway Appliances and Private Clouds for VDI solutions. Further, it is exploring doing Buyer’s Guides on 3-D Printers, Ethernet Switches and Archiving Appliances. These Buyer’s Guide topics are in addition to the many other Buyer’s Guides that DCIG already puts out on data protection and data storage.

So thanks to everyone for stopping by in 2013 and keep an eye on DCIG’s website throughout all of 2014. DCIG has a major (and long overdue) refresh of its website that it is readying for release very shortly. Couple that change with the expanded capabilities of its online Interactive Buyer’s Guide (IBG) and the new DCIG Research Services offering and DCIG anticipates that everyone (vendors, resellers and end-users alike) who comes to DCIG’s website in 2014 will find analysis that is both informative and actionable.
