2022-23 DCIG TOP 5 SME AWS Cloud Backup Solutions

OMAHA, Neb., (October 6th, 2022) – DCIG is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the 2022-23 DCIG TOP 5 SME AWS Cloud Backup Solution report. This DCIG report evaluates the features of twelve solutions across five different categories that provide backup for AWS. This report provides guidance on the TOP 5 solutions that small and midsized enterprises (SME) should consider for protecting applications, data, and workloads hosted in AWS. The report is available at no charge with registration by following this link.

AWS Maintains Its Cloud Leadership Position

Enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure continues to experience double digit growth. Between 2021 and 2022, spending in the overall cloud market grew by 29 percent.

Of the monies spent on cloud infrastructure, a recent survey of cloud market spending found AWS remained the cloud market leader with 34 percent market share. Equally notable, AWS grew its market share one percent quarter over quarter even as its competitors declined or stayed the same.

Enterprises select AWS over its competitors for many reasons. It offers a wide range of compute instances and storage types available at multiple capacity, performance, and price points. It provides complementary cloud services such as analytics, artificial intelligence, containers, Internet of Things (IoT), and Kubernetes, plus many more. It currently has 84 Availability Zones with data centers in 26 geographic regions with announced plans to add more.

Taken together, these benefits make a compelling argument for SMEs to adopt and embrace AWS. Yet as enterprises host more applications, data, and workloads in AWS, they must also take steps to protect them. Here is where AWS cloud backup solutions come into play.

Of these, DCIG identified and classified twelve of them as meeting DCIG’s definition of an AWS SME cloud backup solution. Quotes

“AWS cloud backup solutions have changed significantly since the last DCIG TOP 5 report that evaluated these solutions,” said Jerome Wendt, DCIG’s President, Founder, and author of the report. “The most notable change since then was the emergence of feature-rich, enterprise-ready BaaS solutions. BaaS solutions were not enterprise options even a couple of years ago. The TOP 5 solutions listed in this report represent the rapid maturity of BaaS and its viability for use in performing enterprise backups in AWS.”

We fundamentally believe there is a better way to manage, protect and recover data across the enterprise, regardless of size and cloud in use, be it private, public or hybrid,” said Subbiah Sundaram, Senior Vice President Products, HYCU, Inc. “What sets HYCU apart is we were designed from the beginning to be multi-cloud. This recognition is further testament that the time, energy and effort we spend in both engineering and with customers, that need a cloud-native solution for AWS is working. Thank you DCIG for this latest award and thank you for all that the team does to help companies understand what solutions exist and are top-of-mind when enterprise need an AWS cloud-native data protection solution.”
