Data Backup Survey shows IT Professionals Getting Smarter about Backup

6186134800 8104d0ebb5 oData backup provider Backup My Info (BUMI) conducted a Summer-long survey on the latest trends in enterprise data backup. Interviewing dozens of IT consultants and other industry professionals, BUMI found that the data backup industry has evolved dramatically in recent years but still has room for improvement.

Some highlights of BUMI’s data backup survey included:

  • When asked, “How often do you check the status of clients’ backup process?†47% of survey participants answered “daily.â€

  • The majority of respondents felt IT managers shouldn’t wait longer than a week before checking the status of a client’s backup process.

  • 60% felt that “online providers†were the most reliable data backup and recovery solutions, showing a clear shift toward cloud storage adoption.

Another telling statistic from the survey uncovered that 91% of all respondents considered Technical Services and Support as the most critical factor in selecting a data backup and recovery solution. Pricing was second at 73%, Data Security followed at 62%, and Industry Reputation trailed at 51%.

“Data is growing too quickly and technology is changing too fast to automate the backup and recovery process. When you have a data failure, you don’t want to be filling out online forms or talking to someone who is reading from a script. You want a senior-level engineer who knows your data environment and business needs to walk you through the process,†said Jennifer Walzer, BUMI CEO.

At Zetta, we agree that you should be comfortable with your data backup and recovery solution. That’s why we offer a number of complimentary resources to educate you on our services and help you get the most out of your backup strategy. Check out our free demo video to get started.
