Report: American SMBs not prepared for data loss.

A recent survey by Carbonite of over 125 SMBs with between 2 and 20 employees found that 48% of respondents had suffered some form of business data loss. The study, conducted in April 2011, concluded that physical backup methods (including CDs, flash drives, and external hard drives) were the most popular forms of backup among SMBs, and although small businesses understand the benefits of cloud backup, the biggest concern of those who don’t currently utilize the cloud is cost.

Whether by theft, infrastructure failure, virus, or mere accident, small businesses without sufficient backup are likely to suffer data loss. Disaster recovery is one area in which the cloud can cut SMB costs by eliminating the need for a data center and additional IT infrastructure and staff.

Another challenge often presented by cloud-based disaster recovery solutions is the time it takes to retrieve backed-up data. With Zetta, you get instant data recovery. Rather than waiting to pull down files from your cloud solution and worrying about whether or not you have the proper bandwidth to do so, Zetta’s cloud-based file system gets you running immediately.
